About
I’m not sure that TeamTuxedo fits into any predefined mold. The Books on site design often say that unless you’re just keeping an online journal, you need to have a specific and consistent site wide topic. The goal of this approach isn’t rocket science. The blogger needs to understand that he isn’t blogging in outer space. There’s a worldwide audience out there that are silently reading what he or she is posting even though most will never leave a comment. But you, quiet reader, are there and I know you have many, varied, interests.
This brings me full circle. TeamTuxedo isn’t a niche filler, focused on a single picture without peripheral vision. My brain doesn’t work that way. Clydesdale’s wear blinders, most human beings don’t. That’s because we’re diverse creatures in a million subtle ways. TeamTuxedo also isn’t a personal online journal. It’s been said these online diaries are the ultimate exercise in ego inflation. I tend to agree that this is often the case. I find my views interesting, but I’m not convinced that all of them are unique enough to keep the rest of the world on the edge of their seats. Still, you will find some op ed’s here when I come to some conclusions that you, good reader, might be interested in.
It occurred to me the other day, that I have a good understanding about a lot of things, but I’m not really an expert on much of anything. Having said that, there are subjects that I have quite a bit of experience in, and I enjoy sharing.
You may be wondering (or not) where the name “TeamTuxedo” came from. Well, for one thing, it’s easy to remember; I bet you won’t forget it when you click out.
This site was originally a fuzzy idea in my head, and I didn’t really have a plan on how to develop it. I thought that I wanted it to be about Linux exclusively. I’ve learned a lot. Good web sites simply can’t be one dimensional. I’m so happy with Linux, in specific, Ubuntu Linux, that I wanted to share tips and welcome the newcomers to Linux. There’s a lot that a newcomer wonders about when they are first taking a look toward Linux, and I wanted to be a part of that first look.
Tux the penguin is the Linux mascot, and I pictured the Linux community as a team working to help spread the word about linux, and walk people through the process of using it for the first time. Unfortunately, every domain name variation of Tux has been used. This situation gave birth to the TeamTuxedo domain, and now I can’t imagine this site with any other name. If you think this is an interesting explanation , you should go over to DigitalBlasphemy (a favorite site of mine) and check out his domain name explanation.
And that’s about as close as TeamTuxedo comes to a site wide topic. I have many posts related to Linux, but I’m not one dimensional, and there’s lots of other material here. I hope that this keeps things interesting. What can I say? I have a short attention span
