Help build the most popular page on this site! I am constantly looking for resources on road closures, conditions, fire alerts and information about the mountain areas in and around the Cajon pass. Especially useful are sources of up to the minute, accurate information about whether or not the pass has been closed to traffic or requires escorts by the CHP. Google Maps Cajon Pass Traffic, Route Information, Satellite Maps

Google maps is an excellent resource for up to date maps. This Link takes you to a preset image of the pass area, with up to date real time traffic information. The maps can be zoomed all the way down to street level.

Google maps is available for mobile devices and it’s a must-have application. I have it on my blackberry and I wouldn’t go out without it. It has all of the major features of the online version. You can download it from the Google home page, or over the air.

California Highway Patrol Incident Information

The CHP incident information website gives detailed information about situations that have resulted in units being dispatched to a location. If a particular incident is clicked on, you can read the communications between the dispatch center and the units responding. The “area” drop down box lets you select which dispatch center you are interested in. The Barstow and San Bernardino centers have the most relevant information for conditions in the Cajon pass.

CalTrans District 8 website

District 8 covers the Cajon pass and surrounding areas of San Bernardino. It isn’t easy to navigate, but some good information can be retrieved with patience.

CalTrans Cajon Pass Road Cameras:

These are CalTrans road cameras installed in and around Interstate 15 - Cajon Pass . The view changes from time to time as CalTrans remotely moves the camera. Unfortunately, they are sometimes not available for viewing, and show only a blue screen.

This view is Interstate 15 North of Cajon summit. It’s about a quarter mile before state route 398 north. Traveling northbound from the top of the pass takes you down into the high desert valley where Victorville, Phelan, Apple Valley, Hesperia, and Oak Hills are located. Aproximately 200 miles from this camera position is Las Vegas Nevada.

This shows the southbound lanes just past Oakhill road at Cajon summit. This takes you down into the pass. When conditions are bad, the worst of it is usually between here and state route 138 which is about two miles down from the summit. Blizzards, ice storms, impassible fog, fire storms, that sort of thing.

This is Iinterstate 15 in the Cajon pass. Just behind this cameral is the exit for state route 138. Closest to the camera are the southbound lanes.

Interstate 15 showing the grade leading down to the 138. This is a very dangerous stretch of road. Be extra careful if you are going to be driving down the hill.

Interstate 15, and highway 215 part ways here at the bottom of the pass. The road to the left is interstate 15 as it turns north west toward Interstate 10. The road just to the right is the beginning of highway 215 which goes all the way to the Mexican border at San Diego.

This is University parkway on highway 215 , the major access point for California State University San Bernardino.

This is Mountain avenue about four miles east of the 215 south. This is the 30 freeway above the city of Highland California. It may appear on newer maps as the 210 freeway. The camera faces toward the 215 freeway.
